Journey For Jess

My name is Jason Beecher.  I am Jess and Noah's dad, and Amy's husband.  I found that I loved photography in 1999 when Amy and I moved to Boulder, CO for a job opportunity for Amy.  Living in Boulder introduced me to the mountains and I found a sense of peace in their heights.  

I am the type of person that needs to have something to focus on.  For the 3 1/2 years that Jess was in our life it seems that all of our time and energy was spent on our kids.  While spending more time with Noah has filled some of the void of Jess' loss, he does not require the intense daily attention that Jess required because of her battle with Epilepsy.

Throughout Jess' short life we met many amazing families that were having the same kinds of struggles that we were.  Their families continue to struggle.  Some with the loss of their children, as we are, and others with the ongoing illnesses of their children.  

The goal of the Journey For Jess, and my new focus, is to raise money and awareness in memory of those we have lost and to give hope to those who continue on with their struggles.

I have never thought of myself as ambitious.  I haven't set lofty goals in the past for fear of not achieving them.  But I realize now that this is not about me.  It is about the memory of Jess Marie, Drew, McKenna, Ariana, Tori, Caroline and all the others who have lost their fight with seizure disorders.  It is about the families of Kylie, Mary, Reese, Zoey, Kaetlyn, Lucas, Elijah, Fletcher and all the others who continue to struggle with seizure disorders.  It is time to dream big and set my goals high. It is time to stop thinking of myself and start thinking of others.  It is time to make a difference.  To honor those we have lost and give hope to those who continue to struggle.
